Kitchen Media Wall Aquaterrarium
Overview
Our customer approached us with the idea of incorporating a unique aquaterrarium into their new kitchen extension. The design called for a tank to be seamlessly built into a custom media wall, creating both a functional feature and a stunning visual centrepiece for the space.
The livestock was chosen to suit the environment, combining vibrant freshwater fish and reptiles within the planted section of the tank. We introduced Galaxy Turquoise, Blue Turquoise, and Cobalt Blue Discus to the aquatic side, whilst lizards were housed in the terrarium section above. This required careful planning to balance the aquatic and terrestrial habitats within the same structure.
Because Discus thrive in warmer water, the aquarium is maintained at a stable 28–30°C. A robust filtration system and precise heating setup were installed to ensure the health of the fish, whilst the planted section provides a naturalistic home for the lizards.
The installation was carried out over several visits to coordinate with the kitchen build and wall fitting. Once complete, the tank offered a striking combination of colour, movement, and greenery that transformed the living space.
To ensure the long-term health of both fish and plants, we provide ongoing maintenance which includes water changes, temperature monitoring, and plant care. This keeps the environment stable and thriving for both the aquatic and terrestrial inhabitants.
